Yard Sale plunder

I survived another year on the 127 Yard Sale. I picked up a few goodies in Michigan and Ohio. Another Oliver sign,an owners manual for a 770 and 880,a 9.5L 15 implement tire and tube,a 3/8ths electric drill, the real early Mighty Tonka dump truck that I've been looking for. I got that whole crate full of twisted chisel plow shovels,15 in all,14 were never used, one was used one side. I gave $25 for the whole crate. I got those little caster wheels. I just want the tires and wheels for my corn drag. There was other stuff not worth mentioning, bolts, fastners, small tools, etc.

I'm looking forward to another haul on the Roller Coaster sale in early October.

Unless I'm mistaken you could have another go-round this weekend on the Lincoln Highway (old U.S. 30) yard sales. I'd have gone looking but was short on time.

I may of let a good deal go ? 2 of the small Tonka trucks at $ 5.00 ea. I don't know what they are worth ? They were older like the ones I have from my youth. Late 60's early 70's ?

I think it is. I believe the US 12 is this coming weekend too. Sometimes you just have to make time for bargains like those. lol

Ya,that was probably too cheap. I gladly gave $15 for that one. I don't think the guy got a good look at it. It was in an old barn, covered with bird droppings. He stood in the doorway. I held it up and asked how much? He shrugged and said $15?. I paid his wife or whoever it was taking the money. You find the newer ones with the large plastic wheels everywhere for a dime a dozen, but these early ones are getting to be like hen's teeth.

What???? You're not even mentioning the 9/64th drill bit in the electric drill? It looks like it is even cobalt!!!

I guess I overlooked that. I forgot about the box of ear tags too. There were a couple of tag punches and a calf bottle in that assortment.

I am close by both 127 and Lincoln Highway (US30) and they have not been advertised here.

The US12 (which should cross over the US127 route South of Jackson, MI) was also this past weekend, per our local paper.

The 127 doesn't need advertising anymore. lol
I don't think they could handle any more traffic anyway. There were quite a few truckers who were getting more than just a little aggravated.

I wonder if that's because this was actually the second weekend? The 127 starts on the first Thursday in August, but it was the second weekend this year.

Unless you just happened to be driving down the road you would not have known about it so as to be able to go. Other years it was advertised as to when but not neerly like it should have been. I crossed over 127 sat and only indication of anything was about 2 sales in small town of Merser and a cardboard sign that just said Merser garage sales and food and restroom avaible.

Yep. Yours is in pretty good shape. Someone had repainted mine. I'm always on the lookout for old toys like that and buy them if I can get them at a fair price. I've seen the trucks like that at flea markets for a whole lot more than what we paid for ours
