Hi, i am after some advice as to what could be up with my 135. The engine starts with no problem, has plenty of power. When going from low revs to high revs there is alot of black smoke (even when just on the road with no real load). At high revs the engine misfires every now and again. At a steady RPM it doesnt smoke. It just doesnt sound like a 135 should do if anyone knows what i mean? I have had injectors overhauled and air and fuel filters and clean. What should be my next move?

Try blocking off the fuel line to the pre-heater at the intake manifold if it has one on it. I had a Perkins that was dumping fuel into the intake.

I could be wrong here, but on some (most? all?) Masseys with the CAV injector, there is a spring and lever under the top cover of the injector pump. The lever has holes along it's length to adjust for pump response for various engine sizes, and if the cover was taken off to replace the throttle and fuel shutoff rod O rings, it's possible that the spring didn't get put in the right hole on reassembly, which could cause the problems you are describing.

No, I don't know what hole is the right one for your engine, but I'm quite sure if you ask on the Massey forum, someone there would know.
