Lots of folks ragging on TSC here but I went yesterday to the closest one about 15 miles from me picked up hydraulic oil at a good price, twine at $49.50 for the 16000 ft best price in the area and their twine is about the best if not the best around.Looked around the store a good selection of hydraulic hoses and fittings, lots of mower guards, rake teeth, sections, good selection of mufflers for older tractors, great selection of chain and cable by the foot, tie down chains, load binders, feed for about any animal you can name, animal mineral, good selection of carb kits, sediment bulbs, wires, hitch pins,3pt pins, other 3 pt accessories, huge amount of fencing, gates, etc etc etc.Yea they don't have everything I'll ever need but then again who does? They're getting ready to build another store about 5 miles from my farm which will be real handy that'll make 6 stores within 40 miles of my farm.

I think you were dreaming. The two where I live are fine if you want clothes and horse feed.Or store personal that ignore you.

I bought a green box trap at tractor supply ,it was two,a smaller trap and a big one...34 dollars,,so far got 9 groundhogs with the big trap,

We have a TSC 16 miles from here and I only go there if I can't find something I can't get anywhere else. The prices are really high and it is hard to get waited on. I go to Rural King and can get everything a lot cheaper, especially feed and parts.

Nope everything is there just like I said and are at all the stores in my area, folks like you are like the Walmart haters, make up your mind without any regards to the facts. And yea they had a great sale on work pants there too $12 and I have a couple pair my wife bought for me awhile good comfortable pants.

As stated previous if you are looking for something farm related at our local Horsey Supply it's either out of stock or they don't carry it.

I think it varies from store to store. The one in martinsburg, WV seems to have more tractor parts, fencing, and welding supplies than the ones in Hagerstown, MD, or Winchester, VA. However, I know corporate decides what they get, because in November of last year, I was talking to the manager, and he showed me the 3 pallets of 31 grass seed that just showed up.

When folks start ragging on TSC, I have to ask "compared to WHAT?" They're pretty much the only choice for farm and ranch supplies around here (SE Michigan). TSC is one of the fastest growing retailers in the country, because they know their market and target it well. Do they cover everything? Absolutely not. For example around here, they could probably sell a LOT of tractor tire chains, but they don't stock them, probably because it's a product with only regional demand. It's frustrating when they don't carry stuff you expect they would, but they only have so much floor space and a lot of farm stuff moves slowly.

You are right they have everything. Sad thing is most of it is from China. I won't lie I go there.

We have TSC and Runnings Farm and Fleet here, E SD, TSC has about the same stuff as Runnings but not as much stock.
TSC is the same quality, but cheaper. Disappointed when TSC dropped tillage shovels and disc blades but still shop there alot.

TSC's are pretty much the only farm/tractor related stuff type general store in my area.
Do they have everything? no, course not.
Do they have lots and lots..........and lots :) of stuff I need regularly. yes, they do.(and they are usually always open when I need it)

dunno, maybe they are different in different areas.
corporate ordering schedules are annoying, but the 3 TSC's in close driving range here have lots of tractor stuff...and tools..welding stuff..bolts..oil..drain tile..machinery/implements....etc, etc

bottom line I guess is....would I rather have that store there or have it gone?....I'll take it there.
And since we are part of their target base...I'll shop there to help keep it open.

ps TSC or any store hint, help out the next shopper..it might be you. grabbing an oil filter off the shelf..yes off the shelf for a 70 year old tractor. hmmm last one. swing by the service desk on the way out. tell her/him...."last one, I need another one" they will order it and take your name, you don't have to pre-pay. I give them my name, it will probably be me next time that needs it. Tell em your name is fred flintstone if ya feel like it. the goal is to get one back on the shelf.

Closest retail store of any kind is 30 miles from my place, there's a Bomgaars in that town. Like the store. 20,000 ft degradable plastic is $34 or so? I think, won't use sisal as it doesn't last long enough to even pick the bales up. Twine is usually a little cheaper at the one feed store. TSC is 70 miles away, only been in a couple times, in that town it and Bomgaars often have few customers in the parking lot, but I've had no issues with either.

They do have good prices on gear oils, etc.

But, I think a lot has to do with the individual store. Just like Oerscheln's. The one five miles from me is a joke. Every time I go to get something, the exact peg is empty, where as the adjoining pegs are full. You'd think lights would come one somewhere.

The next closest is 14 miles, and it's great. I've gone there many a time when the closer store doesn't have what I want. I should just start going to that store first as a matter of routine. The nearest TSC is 25 miles, and that's a good store.

Does anyone have a Bomgaar's store? They're probably better than TSC, and certainly better than Oerscheln's. They seem to be located locally in small towns that don't have a TSC or Oerscheln's.

The one in my area SW WI seems to be more for the hobby farmer, if farm and fleet put a store in this area, TSC would not last long! Closest Farm and fleet is 45 miles to me, TSC is 15.

They are handy, there is one across the road from me, I can see it from my kitchen and dining room windows. Its fair to say that one may expect the stock of the old days, sadly, that just won't happen today. We had a general store here, that had just about everything you could think of, it was great actually, all U.S. made goods, lots of stock inside and out. Just up the road a bit is a new Ace hardware, so between these two, its very convenient to say the least. The old hardware store closed and we were without one for years until it was clear we needed one in town.

Don't get to excited. We've had one for a year about 15 miles away. Better than TSC but not a lot better just a lot bigger. They do sell Stihl power equipment which is a plus

Quality Farm and Fleet and TSC were right down the road from each other here years ago. QFF was a better store. TSC won the day however, when QFF closed...bankrupt.

Your TSC store seems to have much more than ours here in Wadsworth Ohio. Seems to be more for the horsey set. Also, their prices are very high. In a pinch I bought a front tire mounted on a wheel for 55 $ . Loews had the exact same ting for 35$. The only thing I get there anymore is batteries. We have Rural King stores that are much more farmer oriented and give excellent service and have much lower prices or the same articles. The only trouble is the RK is 25 miles away and TSC is around the corner.

It is sad, but I am afraid most companies have went with a computer model type of ordering & stocking system based on past sales histories.
Most areas ( according to the data) are becoming less rural and more suburb, so the stock arriving at your local store is what sells the fastest. Not necessarily what will be needed by customers.
These are the new "special order" items.

glad to

Previous to one opening in Malone,NY I had to go to either Plattsburgh or Massena for a TSC.For much of the stuff I needed or wanted I either went to the New Holland or John Deere dealer, both very good.I was glad to have a TSC store open simply to have more variety and have no complaints with them.

Glad yours has the things you need when you need them. But I am going by what I have seen around here. Great store if you need pet food and clothes. One use to carry a good selection of common tractor parts. They no longer do. They never seem to have what you need. Order it and you may get it if they don't sell it first. The other newer store sends out sales adds. Weeks after the sale ended.Got one yesterday. Good price on some items I could use. But the sale ended July 26th.

Ditto here too. There are few farmers left, and their needs are usually megabuck things handled by Green or Red dealer. Feed and so forth they buy by the semi load, if not trainload. Basically TSC is a rural lifestyle store. I'm happy with what I buy there, if TSC wasn't here, I'd probably not be able to buy some stuff at all. I'd hate to open a store competing with them...

When our old northside Big R ( old, local family owned; had pretty much ANYthing that you could want or need ) closed 15 or 20 years ago another Big R franchisee opened one on the south side of town (closer to Telluride, if you catch my drift) and carried very little in the way of 'real' ag stuff but used nearly half the store for 'western' wear ( very high dollar, but the Tell-u-toads buy it  ). The old store closing was one of the worst days that I can remember and it hasn't gotten any better in this town since. SO, when a new TSC opened about 15 miles away in Delta it was a real blessing for me - I really don't mind the drive to the next town because they have some stuff that we don't and the area is fun to explore on the way back. Compared to our present Big R [b:0b8eb988d0]TSC RULES![/b:0b8eb988d0]

One opened about 5 miles from me a year or so back. Like others have said, do they have everything, NO, but they do have a lot of stuff. I usually go there when I need a handful, or two, of the same sized bolts, nuts, etc instead of depleting the stock in my bins. The problem is that many of the items they "stock" aren't in stock. It seems like as often as not the bin is there, the tag for the item is there, but they either don't keep the bin stocked, or only have one of an item in the bin.

To me this seems like a huge waste of space, and huge loss of revenue when they have a dedicated space for something, but no product in the space to sell. I know some will say, 'Well it will come in on the next stock order' and that may be true, but when you go back the next week, and there's still an empty bin, it tells me they either aren't ordering enough of the item, or aren't ordering it at all.

Either way this is supposed to be what all of those fancy computer inventory control programs are for. Scan an item out, and it reorders the item for you. I know the stores have them as that's always the same, basic excuse used for not having the item in the first place, when they used to.....'Sorry, the computer quit ordering it because we don't sell enough of them.......', or something to that effect.

Again, they have a lot of things, but none of those things do anyone any good if they don't keep them in stock.....

Thats funny about the "tell-u-toads". I may have been one briefly, spent a week in Durango and hit all the ski slopes, Purgatory, Telluride and Wolf Creek if I remember correctly now, been 20 years now. I never enjoyed spring skiing like that, I was by myself, room at the holiday in, which was a bunch of flats I think, was $27/night, same for a 1/2 day ski pass, you could bus in to them, or drive, the Silverton narrow gauge line was interesting too.
