Sound a use for welding gloves with a hole in fingers

Cut the fingers off and slide glove over arm. It protected my arm from welding sparks up to the elbow.

Good idea ! I'd of never thought of that.
Sure would of helped me from getting a bad burn years ago when I had HOT metal go right above the glove.

Plan to take the next pair of bad gloves and cut it off above the fingers and attach it to today's cutoff gloves. After a while I'll have a glove that goes all the way up my arm. I don't mind wearing a welding jacket in the winter, not the summer.

Now is this redneck, cheap or just frugal?

I tried that with some imported fiber gloves once a few years ago, still recovering from the burns...
Just kidding, that's a darn good idea

You never know when you need an extra thumb to hold something when welding. Comes in very handy.

Do you have a source for leggings to keep slag out of your boot tops when wearing shorts?

Flip-flops work better with shorts. That way you can just dance until the slag falls of the top of your foot.

I don't wear shorts or flip flops, especially when I'm welding or riding a MC.

I also have to wear long sleeves because I'm so sweet, the critters will eat me alive.
