guidance lite bars

What would be a good set up to use on an IH 806 to spray wheat stubble. Just have a 30 foot 3pt sprayer. What basic equipment do I need to do this. Don't know much about them. Any help would be great. Thanks

I have two Raven systems. They are pretty no frills but I have liked them. One is new enough that it stores data so if you went in for lunch you could come back and pick it back up. It's nice to have for planting instead of markers, although my old one died so I'm just leaving the good one in the spraying tractor. I have a 30 foot planter and 60 foot sprayer so if I plant by the GPS when I spray I only have crop loss at the headlands. It's nice to be able to snap a straight line for planting. I don't have auto steer or anything fancy, so just a basic GPS works well.

Here is a link to the older of my two. I think mine lasted 12 years or so. It is much cheaper than the others but will do what you want.

A word of caution. The reason this one is cheaper is that it has all of the GPS workings in that dome antenna. Protect that thing with your life. No huge tree limbs, so knocking it off the cab, nothing. I priced a new dome antenna for mine - $1200 for just the dome antenna. Thus the reason I have only one functioning. The newer one has a small antenna like a satellite radio would have. The antenna is cheaper but the GPS system is more than double. I don't ever remove mine, but the tractors are shedded and have weather tight cabs.

Outback S lite have worked well for me. They are on e bay new for around $700 new and once and a while come up used for sale. The last one I bought off of there for $450 in real good condition. They just use a small magnetic antenna instead of the the globes of the older ones. I set mine for low sensitivity, works great for spreading feritilizer, spraying and I even use it for mowing hay in bigger fields, so I can strike out fields that are straight. Have also used them for laying down a new fence. Was planning on using them in the winter time for driving to my dads farm when we have a blizzard, but the past few winters have been mild. They also work great for calculating field acreage by going around the perimeter of a field. They also have a speed readout. Lots of uses and a simple, well built unit.

I can't help it. We used to have to put old bleach jugs on the fence posts so our lines would be straight. I can remember disking up the first half a dozen rows of planted wheat because the rows weren't straight enough for grandpa. And he wasn't a man to waste, either. Of course, it was western Kansas, we planted ditch to ditch in half mile long rows, and there wasn't a thing to go around. Grandpa would be amazed at the ground I farm. My folks can hardly believe it. You should hear my mother go on about no till.
