International 340 pto wont turn

hey guys, first time post so hopefully i have this in the right area. so i just bought my grandpas 340 from his estate. runs great but the pto doesnt spin. i remember this being a problem years ago but he never got it fixed. trying to figure out what the problem could be. i took the pto assembly out of the back of the tractor and looked up inside and the splined shaft isnt spinning, when i push the clutch i can hear the shaft stop spinning and when i release it starts spinnning again. wondering if there is an adjustment that might just need fixed or adjusted or if its going to have to go to a shop to have the transmission split? thanks for any info in advanced. h]

You are likely to get more answers down in the Farmall forum. If I remember right there was a few options to that clutch one of them being the independent live and the non live so may make a difference which one you have. The 340 I have here has the live independent one

Winter disconnect? Check you manual.

Seasonal disconnect is under the tractor transmission, It looks like a slotted lever with a hold bolt. If yours is a Transmission driven PTO it is probably the dog clutch. Show us a picture, or describe the unit. Jim
