Future of Two Cylinder Club?

Their "final" Expo took place last week. The club has been dying a slow death for years, last week was just one last shot of glory.
Anybody have any news on their future? It can't be much unless they change with the times.

After they left grundy Center I had no interest in going back again. Was to the one at the airport befor Grundy and both at Grundy. And Grundy was supposed to be set up to be home for as long as club was in extiance.

I don't see the other thread listed ? maybe it went POOF ?

Many people are now getting into collecting the 4cyl. and 6cyl. models. Too bad for me as the run of the mill models of 2cyl. are loosing value.

Those who collect are nostalgic folk with spare money to spend . Usually aged 35-65 with a peak in the 50's. They are looking for what they had an emotional attachment to as a child , teen or early adult. Hence the collection of anything peaking in a 1965 to 1980's range.
They must also have room and a shop or garage for the collection. They must also be in generally decent health.
So.........a male raised in town by a single mother is going to be interested in computers etc.
Given that young folk raised on an actual working farm is such a tiny percent of the overall population over the past 50 years. Interest in two cylinders and tractors is declining.
Odds are if you leave your old JD to the grandkids . It will be posted in the classified ads within the hour. To raise cash for a four wheeler, boat , truck , rice rocket , snowmobile or a computer related item.

Last weeks Expo was perhaps the finest display of restored vintage John Deere tractors and equipment ever assembled anywhere. It is doubtfull that it can or will ever be duplicated in our lifetime. As it is in many things in life those who complain the most have been the one's who have contributed the least. Tom

B&D is right on target......my son and grandson's could care less about the old tractors. Sports and videos games are their interest. The greatest estate sale I won't be able to attend, is my own!!

You are absolutely right. My boy and SIL make a good living in the IT world, 6 figures
Plus. They could care less about antique tractors. However my Daughter recently got a
place in the country, half acre away from HOAs. She needed a riding mower, so I found
her a slightly used 42 inch John Deere mower. Now they think JD green is very cool. I
realize a JD mower is a far cry from the JD A and JD D I used growing up on the farm.

It's still there. Page 2 in modern view. [b:1ba149cb46]I don't do classic nonsense so I have no idea where it is there.[/b:1ba149cb46]
