Ford 861 powersteering

I recently purchased a Ford 861 that had factory installed power
steering which works GREAT, but their is small leak somewhere
around the steering column actuator. I haven't tracked down the leak
and not too concerned about it yet, but I do think it needs some fluid.
I was mowing last week and steering was great, but today it was a
little hard to steer and was making a little extra noise. My question is,
where do I add fluids and what type of fluid will it take? I am
assuming this will take hydraulic fluid?

Thanks

Front right side you should see a big cap looking thing with a clamp ring around it. That is where you add fluid. I use ATF in my 841 since it seem to work better then hyd fluid does

The PS oil goes into the round reservoir on top of the pump, right front of engine. You can use light hyd oil or ATF.

If you find the leak to be a seal, before going in to repair it, might try some Lucas PS stop leak. I've had good success with it. If however, the leak is a hose or line, it will need to be replaced.

Thanks for feedback! I went out first thing this morning and pulled off the cap and it does look a bit low. I didn't see a fill line in the reservoir how much should I put in? I also noticed what is in there is milky so I'll run some fresh fluid through until it run clear and then I'll top it off. Also had a few minutes to power wash off 20 years of dirt and grime so hopefully I can spot the leak.

Thanks again for everyone's feedback!

Thanks for all your input!

I tracked down the leak over the last couple of weeks and repaired the fitting for the output line from the pump and that stopped the leak. I am however still getting a leak from around the top of the actuator. It only happens when I turn the wheel...could it be a pressure relief valve, did I add too much ATF to the reservoir?
