Trip west, hope I survive

Our trip to Seattle has had some bumps and bruises. First,as I posted earlier, our flight was cancelled, requiring a little fast phoning to recall our ride and get back home. The rescheduled flight wound up dumping us on my cousins, rather than hers, which caused a little scrambling on their part to prepare beds. On the way one of my teeth decide to start throbbing and my face started to swell up. A quick call to my dentist got me a prescription for antibiotics, and things have subsided.

Not feeling really up to much, we spent yesterday at Point Defiance park. Saw my first redwood, Douglas fir, etc. I realize these are not the real giants, but way bigger than anything we have at home.

Got delivered to Deedy's cousin in West Seattle yesterday afternoon, ate oysters, fish and chips, and drank beer at Salty's. Not certain what's happening today, I will let them plan, and just go where ordered.

You're gonna need a vacation from your vacation. Or as I say, there are vacations, and then there are trips. Sounds like you're on a trip.

You could come out to our tractor show this weekend if you have the time!
NW Vintage Iron show is Saturday and Sunday at Jubilee Farm near Carnation. Around noon is the most interesting with the tractor parade and a flyover scheduled. Tractor pull in the afternoon. Show runs all Day both days but we do knock off a bit early on Sunday so Saturday is usually our best day displays and activity wise. It is a relatively small show but we have a lot of fun BSing...
Stop and say hello! I will be announcing, so look for the big guy with the big mouth! LOL!

Point Defiance is a magical place on an outgoing tide. We often make it a point of motoring along there when we go boating. Due to the underwater topography and the tides, the fishing just offshore is reportedly excellent (I haven't caught anything though), and there's always lots of seals and a few dolphins there. The current gets kind of tricky, though, so don't go swimming anyplace except the public beach or you'll find yourself in some nasty waters.

Thank your lucky stars that you don't have to drive in the outrageous mess, and your people know how to get around. I have been to Seattle a few hundred times. The answer to traffic is build more highways/lanes. Result = More congestion, slower transit time. Vancouver/Surrey/Maple Ridge is another example - several Billions of dollars for a new bridge (which wasn't really needed - just the "look we got one too" factor) and adding lanes and turn outs and overpasses that all end up in the same place as before. A retired pal of mine has stated that it now takes almost 25 mins. to cover the same route prior to the "Upgrade" Foolish & wasteful, I'm a not too happy taxpayer. ;^(

Yessir - the planners there sound a lot like the bunch in charge of such things around here - they put in 2 'roundabouts' (both on proposed bypass routes). When asked why they were necessary in a town (or 'city' as they like to call it) of less than 20,000 population the guy said 'Well, the money was there and we got a state grant so it didn't cost 'us' anything' - [b:0cc1ff67f7]MORON![/b:0cc1ff67f7] - where does he think the state gets their money or where do the feds get the money they pass around?? Holy Smoke, people! Were all of you raised by wolves or what? I'm going for a walk before my head explodes!
