Well its that time of year again and SOWMBO wants blackberries picked for the freezer and to make some pie's now. I'm not going to complain as she makes good pie's and cobblers. This year it seams the blackberries are big but 5' away there small so who knows why. Today before it poured rain again I picked 6 butter bowls full in about 3 1/2 hours and was burned up and soaking wet, I must be getting old cause I can never remember being this wore out after picking berries. But the wife is happy with the 9 quarts (?) I brought home today and were washed dried and put in freezer bags and in the freezer so she is happy, But she wants more! Still lots more to pick that's for sure and I guess tomorrow I will be back picking them. I like picking the big ones but there are more small ones than big ones so you pick them all! Happy wife happy life and happy tummy! How are the blackberries ware you are? And who dose the pickin? Bandit

The blackberries are good here in south central MO this year. As they should be, with all the rain we've had.

Yepper, a beautiful sight.......down here you spend more time looking for the snakes than the berries, Copper heads and Moccasins. Yepper top that with a big scoop, er ah 2 big scoops of home made vanilla and yummmmmmmmy.

I've got four rows of everbearing blackberries south of the garden. I picked a couple of gallons and made cobbler and jelly. I need to get back out there to pick - they are just falling off wasting. I've gotten busy with an open hay window so the garden has been on cruise control.

I've never seen the berries as big as they are this year. I'd always heard too much rain made them sour, but they at delicious as ever.

The only berries I have are growing wild. One patch has come and gone and others are ripening now. Due to poor season, not a good crop this year, I haven't bothered to pick any. SOMEDAY, I'm gonna plant a patch so I can care for them as they should be.

We have three rows of Blackberries think the wife has picked about 10 gals so far, she's made homemade ice cream and blackberry cobbler a few times and froze the rest. The vines are loaded this year and the Muscovy ducks have done a good job keeping the Japanese Beetles and June bugs in check.
