What are the odds?

First time I have flown anywhere in ten years, the flight is cancelled due to bad weather. We were notified of a two hour delay, drove an hour and a half to the airport, they cancelled the flight just as we walked up to the ticket desk. Our ride had already left for home, I caught him on the cell phone only two exits away, he came back and got us. We will try again tomorrow at "oh-my-god-o'clock", leave here at two thirty AM.

Harold,

Before I retired from a big company that I worked for, I virtually lived on airplanes and in airports. I retired nearly 15 years ago. I haven't been near an airport since then, and as far as I am concerned, I never will be again. 50 years ago, air transportation was fun, but it was sheer agony by the time I quit traveling.

I can't think of any place that I want to go to that requires flying.

I hope your trip is productive.

What Tom said. If I can't drive or walk to it, I ain't going.

Rude staff, officious and ineffective security dicks, crowded, uncomfortable and unhealthy aircraft, schedules printed on toilet paper and all at a premium price.

Never. Again.

I used to be on a plane going somewhere in the U.S. and Canada almost every day for 40 weeks of the year, back when flying was fun. Didn't mind the flying, but grew to hate airports. I don't even like to go pick someone up from the airport.

Just remember that a delay is much better than a disaster. I have logged over seven thousand hours of instrument flight time in the air and there are just times that you must say no.
