N Illinois storm clouds

Possible bad storms predicted yesterday, had an inch at 6am and enough wind to lean my sweet corn over, 25 miles north had 70 mph wind, was about 90 all day, super humid and no air moving all day. About 5pm started to notice huge cloud banks rolling along to the south one after another, then just before dark they were all over the sky, 40 miles east had wind damage about that time I think but we missed it.

I baled all afternoon yesterday. The head index was 117. We just got the last of the 900 bales on the truck and it let loose here. I had 60/100 in short order. They had golf ball hail and 3 inches of rain 8 miles north and straight line winds 4 miles south. I was lucky to be in the middle.

I just came in for more iced tea and checked the temp - heat index of 120. I'm wondering if more won't kick up tonight. The air is so heavy you almost can't breathe it.

Looks like another, more powerful storm is heading for us this evening. Ground is totally saturated, creeks are already at their banks. So what falls this evening will not be absorbed and will be straight runoff.

Thousands without power.

1 hour north of Louisville, we had bad weather yesterday and again into the night. Lots of flooding, Interstate and US highway 50 and 31 closed because of water. Power still out in Seymour WalMart and some other businesses. More rain coming.

Quincy IL still had 17,000 meters out at 6:00pm Tuesday night. The town looks like a tornado went though it. (74 MPH winds)Trees down,roofs blown off lines down. We were told at work we should expect power back on by 10:00pm tonight.
