This piece of iron has been floating around my mom and dad's house for years. I'm not sure where it came from. Do any of you know what it is or used for??

Here's another view(s) of it...

It has the letter "G" stamped on the one side of it.

It looks to me as it is a corner brace but on the inside of the square hole there is a lip on each side as if it were to hold something in place.

Not the first foggiest idea. The small wood-screw holes indicate something small, wood, was attached, or it wsa attached to. The tapered sharp up-turns indicate someting flowed past... maybe.... It is slightly assymetrical. Cannot imagine. Locomotive serviee? Food factory?

The countersinks on the flange looks like it attached to something from that side. Don't have a clue what it was used for.

The holes in the bottom of the 'saddles' are countersunk on the back side. Something tells me something wooden sat in those saddles.
