Painting a range hood

Any tips on painting a range exhaust fan hood?

I plan on taking it out of the cabinet so I can take it out side.
Degrease; sand it down; and then getting some of that appliance paint to spray it.

Is it pretty straight forward or do you have some tips I should know about?
Its beige now and I want it white.

What ever you do clean is your friend. After you think it is clean, take some lacquer thinner and wipe it down. It will be rather expensive, but if you can find some epoxy two part paint, that will last much longer than a spray can. What ever you do just make sure it is clean. Stan

Because of it being over a heat source, I would think a VHT (Very High Temperature) paint would be important.

Everyone I ever took down i just wanted it out of my hands fast,
they were always pretty nasty, time and effort cleaning buying paint etc...

Many years ago I painted one after purchase of a new stove. I took it down, degreased it well removed the knobs/trimwork, and rattle can sprayed with the appliance epoxy type paint. Turned out nice, and no one could tell it was not that way when new, and was still holding up well when I sold the house several years later. I looked at purchasing new, but liked the old hood better, and was inexpensive to take down and paint.

You pretty much have it worked out. The only thing I would add is if you sand down to bare metal you need to prime the bare metal. The appliance paint will likely have a recoat window so put all the coats you are going to do within the recommended time. They say you can recoat after 7 days but that seldom works.

Years ago I had the chance to go with a stainless hood over my range. Still looks very nice! Your old hood, clean or strip and get a can of industrial pain . International has the cream white color and that paint is really tough. Looks great on my CUB If you need white then True Martin Senior paint from NAPA is made by Sherwin Williams. Good paint. Polly powder coat is super. What ever floats the boat.
