Anybody else thinking maybe thier corn isnt growing very fast! To much rain and not enough sun I guess! Hope it makes it cause I got enough in it!

Not mine. I don't know if mine's ever looked this good. I have places that are usually yellow and short if I even get them planted at all because of standing water. This year those places are so green they're practically black.

Maybe you planted some of the GM seed we grow down here. Stalks are only about 5' tall with 2 nice ears per stalk. Stand at the end of a row and you'd think you were fixing to inspect a row of soldiers....all the same, same height, same number of ears, same length, same place on the stalk. Very little corn grown for silage.

Too soon to tell if it will be a good corn year. I suggest that you wait until another month goes by before writing your crop off. I planted most of my corn in early to mid-May and it looked awful when it first sprouted. Some came up in less than a week and some in the same field didn't sprout for 3 weeks. I was thinking about replanting when the rains finally came. Now that corn has filled in nicely and is over 5 feet tall and a real dark green. Of course it is a long way from the planter to the grain elevator and a lot can happen to your crop in between

I have a lot of compassion for you who are too wet this year. Last year I had the second lowest corn yield I have had in the forty years I have farmed because of drown out and wet, sour ground. One corn field lost $200 per acre after crop insurance. This year the corn and beans look phenomenal in my little part of NW Iowa. I might be able to gain back the money I lost last year. The sweet corn is just beginning to pollinate and most of the stalks have double ears starting but I doubt if they will end up with mature double ears.

That is a typical year on my low bottom ground farm....

So far this year the tile kept up with the 2 big downpours we have had, and it was abnormal dry spring so I could plant early for a change.

At this point in time corn looks just amazingly good.

Long ways to go, tho, no tassels showing yet, close tho.

All of our corn in NW Pa. Made it knee high by the 4th. Some of it is waist high.

However........... It doesn't look like it's knee high, but when I walk out in the field
& sink 1/2 way to my knee's , by golly our corn is Knee High.
