My ford 800 turns over really slow and doesn't want to start. How do I get it to turn over faster or is that normal turn over?

1. Makes sure all connections are clean tight and bright.

2. Battery fully charge after a load test.

3. If it still turns slow take the starter in and have it bench tested.

4. Find the Ford page right here on YT and ask over there http://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/viewforum.php?f=15.

You need to fill in the blanks for us to help you help your self. 6 or 12 volts?? Has this just started happening or has it been doing this a longtime etc. If 6 volts does it have the small car type battery cables on it if it does that is your problem you need big 0 or 00 cables on it.

Check the starter bushings. If they're worn the armature will show signs of dragging on the field windings.

Also try holding the clutch down so the starter isn't having to turn the transmission. If everything is
right, good fuel, spark and compression, it will start even when turning slowly.

6 v system. Just bought the 800 but has started slow the whole time so far. Cables are about the thickness of your finger. Thanks for your input.

Which finger your little one or your thumb. If your little one they are to small if your thumb that is about the right size but even then they could be old and going bad or the starter is going out

After you crank the engine, lightly touch your finger to all the starter and battery cable connections. If you find a hot one, take it apart and clean it up.

Make sure the battery ground strap bolts right directly TO the starter mount bolt. Huge difference. NO rusty frame joints / corrosion to slow down the electrons.
