Show of hands...........

At a car show at a July 4th celebration this morning, my wife told me I should buy a Corvette.

How many of ya'll agree with her?

I'm thinking maybe one from the '80s. There are plenty around, they're probably depreciated to a point where they've about bottomed out and may start to appreciate. Plus from back then they were still low tech enough that I could work on one.

I have never been a Vette fan. They are costly to own as far as insurance is and all. The vantage your talking about is not worth as much because they really where nothing special as a car. While the older and newer models are more costly but they are more a unique car.

You ain't going to get one any younger. I had an all black 1977, had about 35,000 mile on it when I bought it, lot of fun, used to take it on vacations before kids. Had it for about 12 years and sold it for 2 grand more than I paid for it, go get one sport, wrap yer azz in fiberglass.

I guess if it was me,I'd want a 1963 split window. I dated a girl for a while who had a 72 convertible. Nice to drive, but it was so darned low you really had to be careful where you went. The car,not the girl.

62 was my favorite year. I just liked the lines. Very low tech by modern standards, last of the solid rear ends for example, but easy to fix yourself.
Of course you gotta have deep pockets to buy one.

Attached picture of my 1972 Corvette, last year of the chrome bumpers. Collector car insurance is a lot cheaper than your every day driver.

Check the frame and "bird cage" for rust issues. I've had my 66 convert for 33 years. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Vetts are a P.O.S. That being said once in a while I run across a nice one they are rare... If I were in the market it would be a 86 up with very low mileage...

1968 to 83 are the worst of the bunch they have the most ragged interior, vacuum head lights and a hidden wiper system that is problematic... All of those should be ground up into sausage at 30K. I have never ran across anyone that was happy with crossfire injection

High school auto teacher had a black '69 427 tripower I used to drool over.

When my son got there (20+ years later) I had him ask about it. Teach said he sold it awhile back...wait how do you know about that car. Son said what's my name? Teach Jonothon Barks.....ooohhhhhhh.

I'll buy one as an investment. I'm at a point in life where I don't invest in anything that I can't get my money back out of some day. That includes vehicles, tractors, firearms, antiques, whatever.

Beautiful car! Now just put a Cummins 6BT in it.
