There has been a lot of positive comments about Honda generators. I have no intentions to dispute the facts. I had a little time before going to a cookout today so I do a little research. Here is what I found.

The 7000 is really only a 5500 watt generator.
The output is 120/240v 23 amps. Not sure about this part, so I'll ask. Are there two 120v outputs rated at 23 amps each or can you get 120v and 46 amps out which would be very nice for operating pumps, motors, and saws that require a lot of amps to start? 23 amps and 120v would be a big turn off, not to mention $4k price tag on eBay.
Weighs 262 #.
At 3 meters could produce 60 db, guessing that at full output. A low of 52 db, again guessing not full output.

No doubt the smaller Honda generators are quieter and that may be important for campers, but I'm not a camper and my nearest neighbor is a cow about ¼ mile away.

Honda's generators produce a very clean ACV which may be important for computers, TV's and perhaps operating today hi-tech gas furnaces with digital controls.

Well I do not know about the generator your talking about but 5500 watts at 120 volts is 45.8 AMPS. So if it is truly a 5500 watt generator it should make 40 some amps of useable power. I also think if you check the ratings it is 5500 watts continuous and 7000 surge rating.

George, you'll probably find the answers to your questions on the Honda website, rather than the misinformation on eBay.

Honda rates it at 7000 watts max, 5500 watts continuous. That's pretty much consistent with the exaggerated claims of their competitors, most of whom insist on calling a 3000 VA generator a "5500 watt" generator.

The big Honda generators can be run in either 240 or 120 mode. You get twice as many amps at 120 as you do at 204. Here are the specs per Honda:

120/240V 7000W max. (58.3/29.1A)
5500W rated (45.8/22.9A)

So you can get 60 amps at 120 volts peak or 30 amps at 240 volts peak. And you can get 46 amps continuous at 120 volts, or 23 amps continuous at 240.

We have a 6500 watt non-inverter Honda generator, and it has no problems running everything in the house EXCEPT the electric ovens. That includes our well and air conditioning. (I suppose it would run the ovens, too, if everything else was shut off.)
