I have a Vickers power steering pump that has a broken shaft. The shaft is 3 7/16 maybe 3 1/2 inches long. I/4 INCH of the shaft has broken off.
9 splines on the larger end and 14 splines on the other end.
The pump has the numbers 2884885 and 297E on it.
This pump is on a Case W7 E Payloader 1971. Going to try and post a couple pics. Looking to buy or have leads on where to buy.
Thank you

Better find the issue before you install a new shaft that is not a fatigue break from many hours running that is clearly overtorque from a locked up pump or stuck relief etc

Understand that--bought from a fella who had passed and his son had no knowledge of the tractor--Bought it knowing it didn't steer. A shop had it on a stand and run it up using some kind of stub and it ran good, but I understand it is twisted off. Any chance moisture in the oil as it got to 35 below here this winter.

NOT A BEARING----Don't really know the terms--probably a shoulder it is 5/8 inches long..

My book says the relief valve is located in the pump. I haven't driven the tractor as no steering. A local pump guy has taken the pump apart and removed the broken 1/4 inch broken part---I know NOT A GOOD ENOUGH ANSWER But all I know at this time...............

Contact Pro-Active Fluid Power. I know they sell Vickers pumps and parts. Good people to work with very helpful. Don't know if they deal in steering pumps. Tel 586-465-6708; 800-398-5733; www.proactivefluidpower.com
