That was dumb

I hate to even admit this. It makes me look like a total schlep.

I bought a JD 7800 FWA at auction about a year and a half ago. Didn't really use it for a while but had it in for a priority and service at the dealership before planting season. I put right at 200 hours on it. This year I serviced it and started planting season. I use the 2500 pound bulk seed bags and dump them in my tender cart. Every time I would pick one of those up I would notice that one front tire was a little low. Then you rush to the field - you know how it is. I finally had a rain delay so I got out the tire guage. One front tire was 35 pounds and the other was 55! They are supposed to be at 24 max. The rear duals had 22 pounds each and they were supposed to be 14. I spend half an hour letting out air!

I was more than a little shocked at how smooth she rode through the field today. For someone as fanatical as I am about maintenance and checking pressures I'm not sure what I was thinking. Whew.

Not a matter of WHAT you were thinking, more like WERE you thinking? No matter, we all have those spells and the older we get the more frequently they occur. And of course, there are those times when we are pushed for time and the thing about the "Round Tuit" comes into play, also.
Ain't it funny how we always tell on ourselves? If we just keep quiet, no one would know the difference.

I would say that is one of the things the dealership should have checked with the service. If it is like that what else did they not check as should have?

Had a tractor heat up one summer, added water as quick as I could, meant to get back and add antifreeze later. The December night I finally remembered it, I ran to the barn, had ice in the radiator.... it pushed a freeze plug, but never did leak or blow anything. Added antifrreeze asap.

Had new tires put on my car, took a trip after I drove about a hundred miles, wondering all the way why my car was so rough. I checked the tire pressure, one tire had 80lbs of pressure, the others 70+
Don't assume anything when you are behind a mule or dealing with people.

They checked the hydraulics, I will tell you that. To the tune of $7000. Oh well, the tractor is a real honey and I got it about 10K below value.

Well if you took it to the JD dealership in Baldwin your biggest mistake was assuming they could fix anything. Every dealership they take over in the area slowly gets run into the ground. If they worked on your hydraulics I'd go over it with a fine tooth comb. I took a tractor in to one of their minions for a new hydraulic pump. When I got it back they forgot to put any hydro fluid back in it. Every bolt they touched was only finger tight and falling out. The new pump didn't even last a week before it blew. They took it back and rebuilt it and it lasted a couple months before it blew again. I was told then that it had 2 months left on the warrantee so they'd fix it again but after that I'm on my own. My neighbor took his tractor in as well and had the same quality of workmanship done. As far as I'm concerned they've ruined John Deere around here. I'm considering buying an orange tractor because of them.
