Randy - I have a question for you on the Gehl 1875 baler. I started having trouble with the hay wrapping around the top roll, of the two feed rolls.

I noticed that my air pressure for the TDC had got down to about 123psi. I am hoping that is my problem. My question to you is if you ever put air into yours. It looks like per the book that there is a air chuck type fitting up on the top of the reservoir. The book says between 140 and 150psi. Do you just stick the air hose on until the gauge reads 150psi, or do you have to mess with it to keep any air bubbles from getting into the hydraulics, or anything like that. Does it need to fill real slow, or are there any tricks? Thanks for any help you can give.

The baler was working fine, and then all of a sudden the feed started plugging up, and just plain would not feed. Hay was good and dry. A bale would start, but half of the feed would go into the bale chamber, and the other would just plug up the feed, between the rolls and the front of the machine. I'm hoping the low air pressure was not keeping the fingers down or something to keep it from backfeeding. Thanks again - Bob

Ya,just put the air chuck on there like you would if you were pumping up a tire and read the gauge on the relief valve.
I have a little trouble starting a bale of there's too much windrow on one side. If you can get a good slug of hay in the center of the chamber it seems to start better. If you get hay pulled down between the pickup bands on one side or the other it can really be frustrating trying to start a bale. I seemed to have had the most trouble starting one this year if the hay was a little tough for some reason. Good dry hay hasn't bothered at all.

Thanks for the information. The hay is brome and is very dry. I've never had the problem before, but it is causing havoc. It went form working fine to not working at all. I am hoping the air pressure will help. Do you think it might? Bob

Check what I said on Implement Alley. I posted a picture.
That's what those stops are for. My old 1450 didn't have those. The dealer told me the newer models did,so I welded some on. It helped.

Well, I'm not sure what the actual fix was, but I put the air pressure to 150psi and slowed the rpm down to 1500rpm to start the bale and then sped up after it started and ran 45 bales through today like I knew what I was doing. I'll admit I was getting nervous with hay on the ground. Thanks to all for the help. Bob
