My son wants to build a smoker. You build the fire in the bottom barrel and the smokes goes into the vertical barrel an does the cooking/smoking. LOL It looks like you just need some good heavy pipe/tanks to build one. Is there anything you need to watch out for when making one????

We were going to use a bunch of old air compressor tanks welded together, however my friend
got wind of the plan and built this out of stainless pipe. I got the cheap trailer from H.F. Round grill racks came from home depot. Would you like more pics?

Yes, there are many variables involved in building a smoker that draws properly. There are actually online calculators that you enter your dimensions into, and it will tell you things like fire box size, vent and damper dimensions, firebox to cooking chamber opening, and chimney diameter and length.
Just search "smoker design calculator". It will also have design ideas and suppliers for the hardware.
