Gasoline/diesel price

I've noticed lately that the spread between gasoline and diesel price isn't near what it was a year ago. In fact yesterday I saw one place the price was the same. Why? I remember in 60's and 70's diesel was 25% cheaper than gasoline. Why the switch for so many years and now it seems to be reversing?

I noticed that too, actually saw Diesel less than gas in MO.

Diesel is a few cents less in Indiana too.

I think it costs more to refine out more sulfur, that's when the price took a jump. I think it's good, I don't want sulfuric acid in my crankcase!
Otherwise, supply and demand sets the price.

I saw a place today where diesel was about $20 cheaper. Thought of the old days.

Is here in N. TX. too. Tracking the same or D is roughly 20 cents cheaper. Hard to say as to why. You get lied to so much by the
sources and all, don't know what to believe......but I did fill my farm tanks just in case.....with the elimination of another 40 cents for
road tax.

The last few weeks diesel has been .10 cheaper than gas here in Edon Ohio.

Around here. Gas is 2.69 Diesel is 2.66 was 2.72 Friday

Here in the people's republic of New Pork, gas is
$2.83, diesel is anywhere from $3.03 to $3.19.

It is supply and demand. Plus what the market will bare. Home heating fuel and #2 diesel are the same thing so they use that to raise the price every winter. I am not sure if it actually is a supply issue or just an excuse to raise prices.

I read the same about the cost of making ULSD.
The next thing is that gasoline is mandated to have the sulfur removed in the next year or two. The expected cost to make low sulfur gasoline is around 30 cents per gallon more.

A month ago they were par at $1.139 each. Gasoline is up to $1.189 today but diesel is still the same.
Still doesn't make a case to save money by operating a light duty diesel.

Back in the 90's and before, diesel was always considerably cheaper than gasoline, I suspect due to being cheaper to make/less refined. No idea why diesel ever went above gas, you get more of it per gallon of crude.
