mice concoction

I have a fenced in garden & would like to mix up a concoction to keep mice out of garden. Tried vinegar, water & cayenne pepper, and sprayed around perimeter of fence, but they ignored it. Any ideas?

Peppermint oil deters mice.

Ditto on the mint, plant it too, they don't particularly like it, and you may be able to also use the extract for insect repellant in another concoction.
