You sound pretty 'green'. You NEED an operators manual! ASAP. See your IH dealer,or contact 'Binder books' forIH books. The trans uses 90 wt.Add plug is beside the gearshift. The ckeck plug is on the side, behind the clutch pedal. Hydralics is a different ballgame.Do you have a belly pump,or a 'live' mag pump. If you dont know, find out. They are two entirely different systems.

is this the place that could be missing underneath I found this on eBay

I don't have an ad on pump but you answered my question where to add and check the transmission fluid I just wasn't sure if it had a hydraulic pump built in it somewhere. I am constantly learning new things. Thanks guys.

OK, do get a manual, but my recommendation is 85W-140 for the transmission, drain, flush and refill. The hydraulics will work with SAE-30 non detergent, unless you cross connect with other equipment, then use hydraulic fluid recommended for the other equipment. The M is really forgiving on the hydraulic fluid, but you do not want to cross contaminate another tractor.

Just a heads up. The trans/rear end on an M takes 12 gallons. (I just did mine). And I'd recommend 85/140. It'll make it a bit quieter and shift smoother.
