1997 Geo Tracker clutch problem more problems

So the clutch got to the point it would not release when you stepped on the pedal. We replace the clutch assembly and I tried to adjust it and it would not adjust out. Found the pedal was not coming up all the way like it should. Looked under the dash and well the cable would bottom out before the pedal came up all the way. Tried the tweak things and the whole pedal fell off the rod that goes to another part where the cable hooks up. So now I have to figure out how to fix that and where to find parts to fix it. Any body ever heard of such a thing happening?? Any body know where I might find the parts and how the heck do you even pull the parts off to fix it.
Thanks

I need the pedal assembly. On one side it has a part that bolts on and that is the cable hook up. Then there is a shaft that the pedal is mounted on and that is what I need. The pedal and shaft it is hooked to on a 1997 Geo Tracker which is the 4 door hard top type
Thanks

Those are mfg by Suzuki, and same as Suzuki sidekick is same thing, so that might help your search. I sold a 95 4x4 Sidekick last year. It was still in good shape mechanically, and fairly low miles, but body was starting to rust, so I decided to sell while it would still sell for a decent amount. Parts should be fairly easy to find still, but will get scarce soon since most end up abused and scrapped. I hit a deer with mine, and got fortunate to find an entire vehicle in a salvage yard, so got most of my parts there.

Yep knew the sidekick and Tracker are pretty much the same. Depending on the years that is. Have a sidekick here that is a 1993 and a whole lot different then the 1997 Tracker I have but if is older and an automatic

This one would not have broken off if i had not tried to tweak it and when I did tweak it that is when it fell off. May have to pull the front seat out and try to put the pedal back on and then weld it back on. Figure I'll check with the Chev dealer tomorrow and see if they have run into that problem and if so maybe check on recall on it

(quoted from post at 03:20:45 06/06/15) You most likely will find the cross shaft in the pedal assembly is twisting in the lever that pulls the cable. This is a weak point. I have fixed several by taking the pedal assembly down and out, taking the bushings for the shaft out of the mount and welding it back together using a 5/8 cross shaft instead of the little one. Without the bushings the 5/8 fits fine. Grease the shaft and tube well and it will last longer than the truck.

Just mark the position of the pedal and the lever before removing then put the lever back on allowing for the slippage so the cable will work again.

Parts are not available unless you can find a pedal assembly in a wrecking yard.

It would be hard to mark any thing since the pedal has come off the shaft completely. The calbe end seem to still be just fine it is the pedal end that is bad.

The cable end is the important one. You just need to set the positions so the cable pulls enough and the pedal arm touches the start safety switch when it is down. Every one I have redone it was the cable end that had stripped.

Getting under the dash is the real problem.

Ya this problem started as a clutch safety switch problem so I took the switch out of the system. Clutch got to the point it was not releasing as it should have so did a new clutch disk and pressure plate etc. Which of course did not fix it. Found that the pedal did not come up all the way so got a big wrench and hooked it to the cable end of the pedal assembly and held the pedal and that is when the pedal came off of the shaft. Ya getting under the dash is a major pain in the back sides. Figure I'll have to pull the drives seat to do so

old, Wilson,

I'll check with him. I know he has a hard top, but unsure of the year, or even if that matters. I am also sure the only trackers he has are 2 door, but again, I am sure the pedal assembly doesn't change.

Give me a day or so, he's working some serious hours.
