In the late 40's & 50's Opperman in London built these unique farm vehicles. Powered by 8HP JAP or Douglas single cylinder gas engine driving the large front wheel, top speed up to 12 MPH.

Driver turns the steering wheel which turns the engine/wheel turntable left or right. There were forward gears and a reverse gear.

The body could be fixed, or tipped with screw tipping gear operated by a large handle.

Dinky Toys made a model of it.

Thanks for the photo. I always like to see odd ball equipment. I've always wondered what the management had to say when the designer presented such a desigh.

My uncle had a sprayer made in Moweaqua, IL made by Owen Hilvety. It was set up like that with a Wisconsin engine, 3 speed transmission, centrifugal clutch, and a jet fuel tank for the spray tank. It had a curved pipe frame and the boom was out in front of you and used milk strainer pads for filters. This was in the 50s.

Would that be considered a "rowcrop"?

I saw one that was similar in Japan about 15 years ago. I think it was built in the late 30's, capacity about 700 pounds.
