Toyota Forklift question

Weld shop I work at part time has a 7 series Toyota Forklift.

Yesterday while I was using it the accelerator quit. It would just sit there and idle when depressing the accelerator.

This thing has a electronic accelerator. Just wires from the sensor on the accelerator to a gizmo on the carb.

There is a red lite on the dash that blinks 5 times, then pause, then 2 blinks like it some kind of code error that started at the same time the acc. broke.

Everywhere I tried to get infro on the net it wants to charge me for help.

Anyone out there have any ideas?

Waiting for a call back from the service rep we bought it from but they seem to be slow as well.

With the toubles they had looking up the words "Toyota & Accelerator" together stall my old computer.

Sorry no help here

Never touched a forklift with electronic throttle but many on trucks which are likely simular. The way they work is they have a potentiometer and a idle validation switch. The idle validation switch I a microswitch that goes on or off when the pedal is at idle as a failsafe soif a short occurs or such it wouldn't accidentally accelerate. I suspect this switch may have failed since when that happens it will only idle and throw a code on most truck

Just happen to have 5 of those here right now at work. 2 have done the same thing, one was the foot pot, the other was a loose wire somewhere. (I dont recall exactly which one it was.) None of us recall how many times that light flashed, but it did flash.

The operated manual tells you how to put it in gear and check the oil and that is about it.

When checking it over again this morning I found a loose wire in the connector that plugs in to the carb.

Thanks guys.
