How much would you pay for a briggs oil filter?

Looks like the WIX 51056 I use on my Husqvarna rider with Kohler 20hp engine. I can buy 4 or 5 of them for the price of this yellow one.

Along these same lines, I wonder how many guys pay $25 a gallon for 50:1 chainsaw fuel. That is the SALE price I saw this week.

I think that is the same filter my Country Clipper uses. I paid about $4 or less at NAPA. Kohler wanted somewhere around $20.

I have a little Craftsman bench grinder. That model had a flexible light that was a 12v bulb. I tried to get one at Sears, they could special order it for $28.00. I went down to autoparts store and bought one that fit, and worked, for a buck or so.

I have a Gravely zero turn with the Kawasaki engine, and while I cannot recall exactly what the filter runs at a dealer, I found that after a bit of cross reference homework the one for my 2.2 Toyota Camry fits perfectly and is available at China Mart for a little over $3. Keep those on shelf in my shop.

Does anybody on this site actually think that Briggs or Kohler produce their own oil filters?
I can't remember if it was a Briggs or a Kohler filter, but about a year ago, I saw one that was nothing more than an repainted E-Core filter. Now I know most small engines don't have a pressure lubed system (the oil pump just pushes oil through the filter and it drops back down in the sump without going through the bearings), but the E-Core filters don't have the best reputation amoung oil filters.
I haven't bought a B&S or a Kohler-branded filter for years.

I haven't used a briggs or Kohler filter in years. I use NAPA Gold 1348 on both briggs and Kolher and run about $6.00.

see it all time at these prices in wally world etc i sell for 9.50 in the shop. if the filter does not have briggs sticker on it during engines warranty period it will be void.

Ouch, I buy Hastings by the case for my kohler, Briggs and Kawasaki. For less than $2. Who makes Hastings? I used to always use ac delco, but auto parts supply shop got me to go to Hastings. Been happy so far!

According to info on their website HASTINGS has been making filters for over 60 years  http://www.hastingsfilter.com

What is the number on your hasting filters and where do you get them? I too have kohler, Briggs and Kawasaki engines.

Clarcor Company bought Hastings filter in 1995. Clarcor also owens Baldwin filters, Clark filters and Purolator Engineered Filtratiuon Products.

If Briggs filters are required during the warranty period to maintain the warranty then Briggs must provide the filters at no charge. Federal law says so.

Agreed. See "Magnuson–Moss". The fuzzy area is that the non OEM filter must be "equivalent". I don't know of any aftermarket filters that are as short as the B+S one, maybe that is the hitch. That said, if a B&S is going to fail, it will likely be on the first filter, or well out of warranty.

Kohler. Kaw and others have direct replacements from Wix and others.

I buy a lot of volume to keep these trucks on the road and equipment running, so I think they give me a decent price. It's the local ac delco parts house. They are in Kokomo Lafayette and merrilville. And they deliver free!

B&S sells two different oil filters: black and yellow. The yellow one is supposedly better and allows for longer oil change intervals, but it's priced about double the cost of the black filter. That said, you should be able to buy a yellow Briggs filter for around ten bucks.

At the rate Sears is going downhill, you shouldn't need to worry about Sears gouging you on parts for much longer. You won't be able to get parts for a Sears garden tractor at any price.

I would love to buy a case of for $2 each, where. All I find so far are north of $6. I can go to auto zone and get a truck filter pf47E for $4.19. Someone said it would work on a briggs.

What's the ac delco parts house down there? Pf53 is what I used to use I think. They probably carry other brands like ours does

Beat me to it that is just what I was going to tell him. He is crazy any body that wants can beat that one. Done seen that tried too many times.
