What to see or do around Baton Rouge

Currently spending the night in Baton Rouge and am looking for idea of things to see around here.

Have been to Chattanooga, Birmingham ,Meridan (Steam engine Mus, really good),Jackson, Vicksburg and

Natchez. WAs thinking about going to the Patterson Cypress Sawmill Museum but it is closed on Monday.

Have seen alot of Farm Museums and several Indian Mounds along the way. Thanks Robert in Md.

Try some southern cooking while there, fresh shrimp or snapper, I always enjoy that when going south.

Looks like you are from MD, have you had the soft shell crabs, if so are they good.

Robert, will you tell me aboot the steam museum in Meridian, Ms.?
Its on my list of places to see when they have the show in November.
Thanks in advance.
This wuz compiled and edited by the only Harvey twice.

Not knowing what you want to see......
But since I love history I would suggest....

The LSU Rural Life Museum
Or a visit to one of the many plantations in the area.

One of America's most haunted homes "The Myrtles Plantation" is just north of Baton Rouge.
While folklore it is a common statement to hear.......
"If you can spend the whole night they will let you stay for free"

There's the USS Kidd's right there, also they have a pretty good zoo in baton rouge. Ever ridden on an airboat? If your willing to drive about an hour West,on the west side of the atchafalya basin there's a half dozen swamp tours. I'd recommend turtle's basin landing. My wife used to work at the bar there.

Harvey, The Soule,Steam Feed Works in Meridan , Miss was the most interesting stop on this trip.
Arrived at 10 on Friday and my wife and I were taken on a private tour of the factory. Everything
is still there, the complete foundry and core shop, the pattern shop and a long machine shop powered
by two long line shafts. From what I observed there were alot of demonstration stations for their fall fest. Line shaft was running slowly. I would also like be attend , looks like it is a great shop

Sorry, can't help you. Drove through there in 1956 but don't remember anything about the town. Anything that I saw back then probably isn't there anymore anyway.

As John sugested, see the Rural Life Museum, other sugestions include: State Capital, Art Center, Planetarium, ride the free ferry across the Misissippi River at Plaquemine La,

Well not the LSU Fighting Tigers Baseball Team :>)

Seriously , if you like agriculture see a working sugar plantation n [ fascinating ]:
