OT DEAD Navigaator

Well, got up this morning thinking I was going to get a lot done for the Medina County Antique Power Assoc. Tractor show coming up next Saturday and Sunday 20, 21 June. at the Medina County fair grounds For the first time after 40 years of shows, we are having a Pancake breakfast. Since I suggested it I am of course the chairman. NOW TO THE PROBLEM. My truck, a 2003 Lincoln Navigator is dead in the garage. I use it to haul everything in and pull trailers. It is so dead that I cannot even put it in NEUTRAL to push it out to look at the battery. After 70 years of driving I have never seen a car I could not put in NEUTRAL. Doues anyone have any ideas or have knowledge of this particular happening???? I will listen to all replies Thanks Henry

Get the quick charger on it or some super long jumper cables and see if you can get some charge in the thing.
A lot of Ford products won't let you take it out of park if you have a bad brake light or brake light switch. This sounds like something was left on and completely drained the battery.

There is a solenoid that is activated by the brake light circuit that unlocks the shifter when you put your foot on the brake. It needs "some" battery voltage to release the shift lock. If you can't get to the battery with it in the garage to charge it, you can wire a cigarette lighter plug to the charger and charge it through the lighter outlet.

try putting the ignition key halfway between off and run. that is what I had to do when a brake light fuse would blow the get it out of park but that was on 95 fords.

Henry I have a 2004 LIncoln Navigator----A known problem is that the window seals leak--front window-- and let moisture down on the passenger side where all of the inside fuses are located--down by the passengers feet. Mine got moisture in there and shorted causing the battery to go dead.
Not saying this is your cause of battery run down. But it is a very well known PROBLEM. A YOUNG FELLA THAT RENTS FROM ME PULLED THE ENTIRE fuse panel out and cleaned everything and now it runs perfect.

My condolences for buying the Navigator. I have one and it's without a doubt the worst item I've ever owned bar none. As far as your dead battery problem I would imagine the air suspension probably failed and the compressor ran until your battery was dead. Air suspension removal and install non air suspension was probably project 100 or so on an endless list of fixes I've done on mine over the years. That truck and the 1988 f-350 4x4 with a 460 efi are two lone reasons for me to swear to never buy another ford anything ever again.

We ran into the same problem with ours albeit a few years newer. The radio was causing a drain if the wife didn't shut it off before the ignition, it would be dead overnight......Go figure.

Otherwise, all we've ever had to do is put another set of tires on it.

Another place to check once you get juice going it the rear wiper motor. The window latch
mech. has part of the park switch for the rear wiper motor. If the motor isn't partked when
the key is off there's a constant drain on the battery until the wiper motor is full in parked
position. One thing is for sure if you've been driving this unit & haven't had a problem there
could be a number of things that will drain the battery. These vehicles have a boat load of
options, all that stuff is really nice WHEN IT WORKS.....

I heard some time ago on another Ford product that there was a way to unlock the shifter with a screwdriver in a spot in the console for just this reason, dead battery. That's all I recall, sorry I can't recall the details.
