Rain lack of it.

I know this spring has been unusual to say the least, Some areas have seen rain the likes of witch haven't been seen in many years. But for me here in SW Ohio very near Blanchester we are dry, To the point that corn is starting to curl and small trees have leaves are curling. I had the last of my beans planted 3 weeks ago today in dry ground (no-till) and they have had maybe 2/10" of rain over the last 3 weeks. Its like today, it rained hard in town and to the east and north and south but no rain to the west of town. I was glad to see it rain but I cant buy a rain at the farm! I went on a parts run today and seen water standing in fields and thought we were going to be lucky only to find 1/2 mile out of town and the road turned dry and the ground was bone dry. North of Cincinnati Oh up towards Dayton they have had plenty of rain as well as Northern KY to the south of me. It seams like all the rain hits Cincinnati and it splits it in half and it goes north or south of us and we don't get any.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the weather but its getting dry to the point its about as bad as it was in 2012 around here, And that was a screwed up year. Last year we finished up on Fathers day this year we were done on May 23 and as of Thursday I still had beans coming up after being in the ground 19 days. It dose make a guy wonder what the rest of the year is going to be like. But as always I know we are the biggest gamblers in the world and we gamble every time we put a crop in the ground, A 50/50 shot it will work or not. It sure makes you wonder. Bandit

Here where I am in Missouri they are calling for rain for the next 6 or 7 days. Had one 4 day run where we had no rain so got a bit of hay done but only 8 big bales. Seems it is either to much or to little no matter where you are

read in paper it was the wetest may on record in US since 1859? need to switch to global wettness instead of warming, it just starting!

Much the same here in Sask. Way too much rain last year but not enough so far this spring. The hay crop will be pretty short here although field crops are not suffering just yet. Some parts of the province have been getting some good thunderstorms and hail along with rain but not me.

Here in west central ohio we have had rain at least once a week for over a month.Still ground around that hasn't been planted. They just got my corn in last week, nothing on the beans yet.
It rained three times yesterday. If you go 10 miles or so north or south crops look fine.Must be a little strip just through here, guys west of us in Indiana have the same thing.

I'm south of you, Winchester OH, and I know what you mean, the rain seems to split north and south.

We did get 0.6" on Saturday, but that was one of those pop-ups that dumped it all in 15 minutes.

We can fret all we want (I'm one of the best there is at it), but this one is just out of our control.

Be Good

I am over in Ky..just west of you, west of Augusta, and our rain has shut off too.I think Brown county,Ohio,is getting pretty dry also.Maybe if we all cut hay this week!!??Mark

Here in SE Michigan, it's been pretty wet. Lake levels are up, have to cut my grass twice a week. I've been watching the "Weather in Motion" lately and it's interesting how these pockets of wet weather move across the country. Few days ago, I was sitting in my office seeing the clouds and lightning and heavy rain in the distance to the west. Figured we were in a for a good soaking. I then watched the radar map as it tracked the storm as it slid by heading NE, maybe 1/4 mile to west of us. Didn't get a drop out of that cell. So, yeah, I can see how some folks might be dry and others not. Rain DOES seem spottier lately with larger more localized cells. Of course, maybe that's because the radar is easier for everyone to access due to the Internet and before we were just oblivious to everything that wasn't right over our head.

Here in PA we were in the 70's until a day or so ago, now 90's. Our rain is very far down year to date. Now it's going to be in hte high 80's and low 90's for the next 10 days.

Here in SW B.C., we had the driest May on record and are looking the same for June. Everything is about 2 - 3 weeks ahead of schedule. My lawn normally looks like a fairway at this time of year, went brown 2 weeks ago. On my own groundwater supplied well and am getting antsy. We do have 8,000 gals. of water in plastic tanks.
