The tractor is one of the Renault models Claas continued to make after they bought the French Renault tractor company.

The Lely Lotus is one of the best rotary tedders sold, clean sweep and throws the crop high & wide.

Nice pics. I have a view of the ocean also. I have never got clear in my little mind 'tedding'. Does it mean turning over/aerating (sp) hay ? HPH

We have a 1 basket tedder. Walton. It does a nice job of spreading our clumps or windrows that the drum mower makes.
Driving by neighbors field, which was already done, he hay was fluffed and almost standing on end. talk about drying. But I don't know how he did it.

Over here "tedding" is the word used to describe lifting the cut grass up and shaking the swath out to allow air to help drying the grass.

The early ones were horse drawn, a horizontal bar with fingers lifted the grass up and over, underneath a tin cover. Then PTO driven versions were made up to the late 70's when the rotary versions came over from Europe and were more efficient at spreading and teasing out lumps.

The Bamford Wuffler was the best known, many other companies made their own versions in single & double row sizes. You could adjust the opening width of the rear doors to have narrower or full width spread

I have a 4 star Kuhn. When I run over new mown hay, I run in 6th gear about 1400 rpm. The centrifical force of the wet hay spreads it out pretty good. Then I tedd a 2nd time, when the hay is about 25%. Now I run in 7th gear and at a slow 900 rpm. The tedder actually gathers it up and piles it taller, almost like a rotary rake. I do use a NH rake before baling, which always picks up any missed wet stuff.
