Water price here and how lucky we are

Check out this picture of how much it is to buy water from a local community water system. We fill our hydroseeder here sometimes when nearby. It just got me thinking, imagine how far a quarter would go if you lived somewhere else in the world. I'm kind of surprised they still do this, it's at a pump house on the outside of town.

They do that here .25 per 100 gallons.A few folks here in outlying areas off the system haul all their domestic water from there

This machine doesn't exist "somewhere else in the world" where they really need it.
People die every day from disease because of no access to safe water supplies.Lucky
is the correct word to describe having this vending machine in your neighborhood.

Yes, I know it doesn't exist, just meant how important 90 gallons of water would be to a family with no water to drink. Then I show up with a couple bucks for 600 gallons just to hydroseed someone's lawn. We are very lucky we sit on top of a big aquifer around here. Some people can pump as much as they want and the water level doesn't change I hear. It won't last forever though.

I haul water for the house, it's about 12 miles round trip which sure beats 40,000$ for a hook up to a city water trickle line. Cost is 3 dollars per cubic Metre. If I was commercial I would be paying 4.25 per cubic Metre. Most acreages in the area just use a cistern and haul water in.

That's cheap, here in Howell township, water is $8 per thousand gallons, and a sewer fee of $9 per thousand gallons is tacked on.

(quoted from post at 15:07:14 06/08/15) Just paid [b:40e6eec6d3]$2500 to replace my well pump [/b:40e6eec6d3]Saturday morning, now after reading this I don't feel so bad.
hat is that pump made out of,...Gold!!!!??

I guess i'm luckier yet.
I have an artesian well, free flow to the cattle drinkers and my cistern,..pump in the cistern though to supply my house. That pump has been pumping problem free for 25 years and counting.
(knocking wood)

Today I was doing a repair at a City Hall and saw a guy back up to one of those electrical
outlets with his electric car, and just walked away. No credit card, no money into a slot,
just hooked up and walked away. Hmm? I walked over and took a look. No credit card, no
money slot, just free electricity for him and another car parked by him. I have to pay for
my diesel and my gas AND road tax on top of that. So if I have an electric car or vehicle,
the tax payers pay for my fuel. What a sweet deal. Tax payers pay about $7,500 refund from
the government that goes towards electric cars, and then users just need plug in at city hall
and have the taxpayers pay for their fuel. Sweet deal. I wonder who pays for their
registration and insurance...beyond health care.

I get 27 acre/feet of water supplied to me at 80psi for $375 a year...it is nice to have cheap water and no pump to mess with. Just got in from firing up a couple of irrigation lines...feels good in this 94* heat!

That is $17 per thousand gallons, plus $34 per month in metering fees. Is anybody else even close to this?

(quoted from post at 15:35:13 06/08/15) bison, close ... it's made of GOULD. A Gould model 7S to be exact :->.

My pump is a Gould pump too.
I Forgot what model but it's 3/4 hp 1 Ph 240v.
I paid around $400 for it back then.
I have a spare pump on the shelf, same thing but 1/2 hp.
I found the thing in the landfill,..all it needed was a new pump seal.

bison, my first one lasted 17 years. Next one 7 and also a 3/4 hp, but the installer put in a cheap chinese well control tank and not a WellXtrol. Nothing ever breaks for me on a weekday. So I had to pay weekend rates and also needed 275 feet of wire, fittings etc. The pump actually didn't fail, the wire got worn through from abrasion against the pump housing -- so just had them do a new pump anyway. Normally I'm a DIY fool most of the time but for something like this when your wife and kids find out there is no water you call in a pro. Heck I doubt if I could even rent the rig that they used to pull up the pipe. And they disinfected the well with pool chlorine which I would never have thought of.

Mine are above ground pumps(not a jet pump either), i got no pump in the well, the well is artesian, the water gravity flows into my cistern(pump house on top), i pump it from there to the house barn and shop.
