While changing tools and unhooking/hooking hydraulic hoses on my Bobcat this morning, I was thinking about some really great tips I've read on here over the past and how they have made life easier on me. What came to mind this morning was the trick offered by NCWayne about hooking the flat tip coupler ends together while storing tools to equalize the hydraulic pressure. No more nuisance lock ups ever since. Then, greasing tractors and equipment, I thought about the tip from HoboNC way back about the Lock-N-Lube Coupler that has really made life easier greasing equipment.

Painting mold board plows instead of greasing them for storage was a great tip for me. I'm sure there has been lots of others but can't remember them at the moment.

John T and Bob M have supplied diagnostic and diagram information that is serving very many YTers. Jim

OK...I found the lock n lube thing. Never heard of it and sounds like a good idea. Whats the deal with the hydraulics? That sounds like a good-un too!

JMOR and Soundguy on the Ford site have good tips. The road house has even better beef tips too with mushrooms and onions. SOOO Good.

Best tip I ever got was don't ever tell anyone you are a mechanic and are a good welder.Been busy ever since I retired! Hoss

I credit multiple posters with the advice: Don't fix a tractor that you are looking at to buy, and get it running so you can drive it up on the trailer.

My ladyfriend would say that the best tip I got here was microwaving sweetcorn in the shuck. Point being, there's a world of wisdom here on an incredible array of topics.

HoBo's idea for the bracket to secure a trailer jack to the side of a tractor rear housing when splitting. It Is not only far easier than pushing on a floor jack but it could literally save lives. Then there is the use of metal flashing over the cross members when building a wagon deck. I don't remember who it was, but it will put off the need for rebuilding the wagon for a lot of years.

I have some skid steer attachments that have flat faced couplers. In spite of a hydraulic pressure release solenoid on the Bobcat, it was sometimes impossible to hook the couplers up due to pressure buildup in the hoses. Biggest challenge was my hydraulic tree saw with its' oversize hoses. By joining the ends up immediately when I'm done the pressure equalizes and the couplers will snap right in for next time's use with no problem. I would also wrap the hose ends in a plastic bad to keep them clean and from from corroding. Hooking them together eliminated that task, too.
