Farmall Super A Wheel Problem

Ok, so the all the lug bolts & nuts keep getting loose. This is where the dish connects to the rim on the left rear tire. There are 4 of these bolts. Would a product like "Locktite" work on the bolt threads? Not sure how to solve this problem.

Lock washers are not working. All the nuts still get loose. I replaced all the square head bolts with new ones, and they won't stay tight.

Had problem with a Cub doing that.

I bet your problem is the holes are wallowed oversize and probably oval too. And with twice the Hp as a Cub, you twist the disk in the wheel every time you change direction.

some thoughts:
1. Replace the wheel and/or disk. (This is the best idea-even with good used parts)

2. Drill everything oversize, possibly metric oversize if there is one, and put in new bolts. You may have to modify Hex head bolts to fit in the square pockets, though. If you could find square head metric bolts you probably wouldn't want to pay for them.

3. Commit to re-torquing the bolts on a regular basis.

Yes, the holes are too big or the nuts aren't the right ones (don't have the right shoulder). I had an M Farmall that did the same thing with the fronts. The rim holes were bigger than the hub holes. They were all loosening even without driving torque affecting them. I drilled out the hubs and used larger bolts. Not a problem in years.

Post a pic of the nuts that are on there. I have an A that I cultivate corn with. I will look at mine and see if they are the same. I can't see an A wollering out the holes unless they were run loose for a long time.

You're exactly right about the holes! I noticed they are somewhat oval now in the dish. I suppose they never will stay tight until I replace the dish.

I bought replacement bolts a couple of years ago for that, and they were not cheap with the square heads! Perhaps those are not the right nuts for the application, I'm not sure. They are just regular hex nuts that fit the bolts.
