Never seen a mower/generator/UTV combo

I went to Lowes this morning and saw this outside. $4k for a 46 inch mower, 7100w generator, and it goes 17 mph. It has a very small bed, shocks. The mower appears to have no belts, an electric motor instead. Don't know any more than I posted. If it had a welder and was a 4x4, I would have taken it home. I would have use it as a trim mower.

Please post any info you have on this combo hybrid. One pic, someone is pointing to the mower. Don't know how that happened, do you?

Lowes was selling them around here for a VERY short time a year or two ago....don't remember the whole story, basically they were coming back as fast as they went out the door, junk poorly made in China or some such thing. No parts, etc. Anyone remember?
Neat concept though.

Not to steal the thread, but I am putting rear brakes in my pickup....shoes,seals, drums, wheel cylinders, brake lines, and new spring kit....all made in China. Doesn't make a guy feel real good to realize all that manufacturing went overseas.

I remember them well. Biggest pile of junk the world has ever seen.Friend of mine worked for a dealer.Had six come in one day along with a seven page 21 item recall repair list. Of things to fix before they could be sold. Had two burn because the generator shorted out.See if Lowes will pay you to take them off their hands.

we better start teaching our youth how to work, or there wont be anything but Chinese junk to buy. Talked to a HR rep today, he said even college gards cant pass simple employment test.

2 reasons: Folks want cheap, at least some of them.
Investors want to make as much money as possible. Cheap labor = big profits.

True, but they won't hire "seasoned" workers that can and that have a good work ethic.

I know. These college educated HR directors just can't understand why qualified workers don't line up at the door to get $9.00 an hour for a full time with mandatory over time job. The local Honda supplier whines to the local government that they can't hire qualified and educated help in our county. They need tax dollars to help get people trained. Never mind the fact they don't pay worth a crap and expect 12 hour days 7 days a week for the first 3 months, that can't possibly have anything to do with their "labor shortage". If these places would start paying a wage people could raise a family on, they would get qualified help. Who wants to work a dangerous job for the same or less pay MickeyD's offers?

Bill, when I saw this combo unit, I thought that you had something to do with it's design. You have to admit, if it worked well, it would be revolutionary. Mowing at 17 mph, springs and shocks. That would give the ZTR's a run for the money. A 7100 watt motorized portable generator. Like I said, if it was 4x4 and a welder too, that would be every man's dream machine. Well it may have to be a two seater for your honey to ride along.

No, I didn't tell the boys at Menards I was at Lowes. Lowes does have a few, very few things that Menards doesn't have, flowers for one. I also picked up some Lincoln welding rods at Lowes. I hate Lowes check out, only two lines. One was the service counter.

Must of been what I saw one time in upper Ohio at someones place who sold a lot of crawlers. Thought it was pretty neat. Don't know why they didn't market them here ? this had to be a gray market deal.

That's what happens when the government is offering $15 an hour and 365 days of vacation a year.

while we're on china how do you gather all the raw materials up,put it on a ship, ship them to china redistribute them all over the country for manufacturing then gather them back up put them back on a ship, ship them back to the US and redistribute them all over the country where does the savings come in, contrary to the story about cheap labor logistics appears to eat that up

Ok, I'll bite. Where do you get 15 per hour and no work?

I think it's in your head...... 8)

Nationwide, our study found that the wage-equivalent value of benefits for a mother and two children ranged from a high of $60,590 in Hawaii to a low of $11,150 in Idaho. In 33 states and the District of Columbia, welfare pays more than an $8-an-hour job. In 12 states and DC, the welfare package is more generous than a $15-an-hour job.

Yep.

Cheap junk made in China and they didn't drop the retail price one dime.

That's what aggravates me the most. but they can since there are no US alternatives/competition on alot of stuff.

Really? Go price a made in Korea or Japan compact tractor then price a Jinma out of China. There darn sure is a price difference and a big one.

This is what happens when Government steps out of the way of business. China and India are good examples.

When I was a kid, people would make fun of things made in Japan just like they are doing with things made in China. Then Detroit had to take a lesson form Toyota and other Japanese car companies on how to make their cars better, more fuel efficient. Just wait, I'm sure China will some day get their act together and show us how to make things better.

George, I just got back from the local Family Farm and Ranch where they had a similar unit, apparently made by the same manufacturer, on display.

It looks to me like one of those things that are supposed to do everything, but in fact do nothing well.

Mowing: The "fabricated" mower deck is actually made of fairly thin gauge steel. It's welded, so it looks hefty, but a close inspection reveals otherwise. It's going to have a terrible turn radius. Now I know you don't care for ZTR mowers for some reason, so maybe you'll like that feature.

Utility vehicle: Well it at least has a trailer hitch. A couple, actually at different heights. That's good, because that's the only way you're going be hauling anything. And you won't be taking it into the boonies: with the mower deck attached, it's going to high center going over an anthill.

Generator: Since it won't mow, won't haul and won't go off-road, what you're left with is the world's largest (in cubic feet) 7000 watt generator. I'll stick with my Honda, thank you. Sure, I have to haul it outside wheelbarrow-style when the power goes out, but it fits neatly in the corner of my garage when it's not in use.

For another grand or two, you can buy that nice ZTR I know you're secretly coveting.

How old are you, I'm 66? If you are younger, it proof I have CRS, Can't Remember Stuff.
