Got a IH 444 the cap was missing on tach drive that holds the gear in gear kept backing out tach would quit so I thought I'd replace the tach drive so I called case IH said it was available 418.00 I said no thanks so I took a nickle and put where the cap went brad it in with a punch works fine so I guess the old tractor is worth a nickel lol.

Thats a lot of money, here in the UK I sell them for £60=00 ($90). I have repaired a lot of them with dished core plugs. MJ.

Wouldn't you think that they could have designed it so that the gear was pushing back into the housing rather than pushing out on the cap? What's really annoying is when the gear pushes the cap out, but stays partially engaged enough to grind the plastic gear enough to ruin it!
