JD 4020 Powershift transmission

Mess

New User
I have been reading this forum for about two months, and have found many of the tips very helpful since I bought my 4020 back at the beginnig of April. Now I happen to have a problem that seems to be the opposite of many others who have posted here and that is that my power shift does not want to go into the park position, it stops at the neutral slot and will not go further. I am suspecting that it is a linkage cable or something like that based on what I have been reading here. Any helpful hints would be welcomed. My thanks in advance as I am not a great mechanic and am learning as I go

Strong chance the park cable is sticking, I have removed them and got penetrating fluid to work into them, then try to push pull it a little at a time in the vise,,wiggling them back and forth as you spray them helps too...

Thank you for the help, I will check into that and see if that fixes my problem. I dont feel very safe with the tractor when I have it running because it wants to creep forward when its in the neutral position, also makes it hard to get hooked up to equipment, so I have to crank the front tires to keep it from moving on me. Thanks again!
