Thought some might like to see it and I need practice with the picture resizing thing. I'll get the serial number later, it has taken a cold turn and raining cats out there! Anyway...lets see how this picture thing works out.

Here's the front. Resizing thing seems to work OK. Betting I could have put both pics in one post though.

Looks good. The shanks where the fertilizer opener discs mount are available from Shoup at a very reasonable price.

Get a manual, think I beat B&D to it.

The newer style gauge wheel arms let you screw adjust the tension, the older ones have shims. I would replace them whole arm with the new style if any are bad. They are less than $20 aftermarket.

Make sure and check the closing wheel bearings, they WILL fall off in the field if bad. I make sure they are not stuck or wiggle.

The square tube tends to get filled up with mouse nests, which hold moisture and rust the tubes out.

The finger meters work very well, I would upgrade if it does not have them.

Ours has a hard time metering the small beams accurately, works good if you move right along.

Enjoy it, good planter.

When you get the manual have your serial number handy. If my memory serves me right the transmission sprocket selection is different after a certain serial number. I found that out the hard way.

The dry fert attachment is worth what you paid for the whole planter. Check the Schoup catalog of the lever adjuster for the closing wheel down pressure....nice option, easier to set, makes you more likely to adjust the pressure.

Are you kidding? You got the fert setup and the cross tube for that price?

Stole it what ya did!

I looked for. 3 years, couldn't find one, had to buy from a jockey, $8500, no nice fert tube.

Good for you.

Mr. Dave,

If you want to make 300% on an investment, I will get you a check and send a truck.

If you want to use it, that is fair for me, excellent for you. You stole it and you should be careful walking into the post office. Your picture might be on the wall as a thief. You will not get hurt with this planter. Give me first shot if you want rid of it, ever. My offer of 300% stands.

Everything is good. Ship off the meters to someone and when they come back, plant. You will win.

I am so proud and so happy. Pait it red if you want to feel at home, but what you have is outstanding as it is. You will be happy.

Thanks for showing me what a win looks like. It has been a while since I had one. I like to be reminded of how a win feels.

Did you win? Oh my... Yes you won! Don't second guess that purchase. Find a bunch of problems? I will still give you 200% on your investment and pay shipping. You just whacked a mole and got at least 5000 chuck e cheese tickets with one strike. You'll have the big stuffed bear from the top shelf in no time.

Good job and really happy to see this

John

I got a Shoup catalog around here someplace. I threw them a fair amount of business last year with the combine. I'll look into it...thanks!

You guys are really making my day! Good deal...great! If it makes "life with corn" just a little easier...priceless! :)

Thanks John! It was a bit of an accident. I didn't even know it was in the auction. Right next to it was the IH 56 and I had decided it was not for me. My wife was not so sure and was still looking at it. I walked away and as I did I passed this green planter. Looked at the number on the tongue and turned to my wife and said..."Gee honey, looky here...the holy grail of corn planters!" Everyone looked at me like I was nuts and I explained about all the arguing on the forum over the 800 vs the 7000. Went home and checked the current price and it was up to $1200. 24 hrs later it was still at $1200. Couple hours later it was about to sell so I bid $1300. That was all it took. Add on 10% premium and that was that. I bought an 16' IH 820 flex head at the same auction. Heavy clunker of a head but I don't have a bean head and the price was right. Auction was 10 country miles from my house. Just one of those things that works out. Heaven knows that, in a pinch, I have had to go the other way and pay too much more than once! Thanks again!
