OT bolt broke

I have a 99 Explorer that has become my hauling vehicle for small things and I have the rear seat folded down most of the time with tools etc in it. Thurs the drivers seat back bolt broke and I took it apart after removing the seatcover which was easier than I thought it would be. So last Aug after getting 2 recall notices ,I called the dealer and he said bring it in and we'll do the seat back bolt and the cruise control pigtail. After the bolt broke I called them and got the run-around from svc man who transferred me to parts guy whom I had to leave a message with. After looking for a suitable bolt I went ahead and did a diy repair on it. The parts guy hasn't called back yet. I don't know if the broken bolt is the original or replacement bolt. I guess I'll just let it go for now and see if they call me. The vehicle is 16 yrs old!

Once upon a time, we had a Pontiac Transsport minivan, going on ten years old. The steering rack began locking up at random. (Talk about scary!)

Just for the heck of it, I did some research online and found out GM had a recall to replace the steering racks on any Pontiac, Olds, or Chevy minivan of a certain block of VINs for that very problem. I happened to be driving past a Chevy dealer in a different town next day, and stopped and had them run the VIN. Seems our van had fallen through the cracks and the recall had never been done on it. They were more than willing to replace the rack, but I was driving a different vehicle at the time.

I went to our local GM dealer and he couldn't believe it. He tried to get out of it, but the simple fact was anyway you ran the VIN on GM's site, the recall was still open on our van. He finally admitted he had to replace the rack on our van with a brand new GM unit. Which he did.

Hi Dad had one of those Pontiac transport vans with the recall on the steering rack. I think it was a 96 model year. We tried changing the plugs in the rear bank of cylinders shortly before the recall.
Of all the stupid places to put a motor so you could couldn't get at rear plugs. when it went for the rack change they did the plugs while the rack was out, it was easy then apart from they pulled 2 plug wire ends off and destroyed the wires.. he replaced it with a chevy venture shortly after that. they are both good vans apart from access challenges to do some jobs. But hey if it was a newer ford diesel truck the cab would of been off 5 times by now!!!!!! L.O.L
