Hi guys,
I have a crazy question that is sort of opposite of this sight. New technology on old tractors. Has any one ever put on a Trimble Ez Guide 250 light bar on an old tractor? Or combine the Ez Guide with the auto steer? I farm with Olivers. If I am understanding this correctly, as long as I have power steering, the auto steer will work? I know this sounds like over kill, but I thought I would pick your brain for ideas. Have any of you ever done this and did it work? Or will a worn out front end give the auto steer fits? Thanks in advance

Seems like there is a setting in the configs. called freeplay left/right. I think it's purpose is to compensate for worn steering issues.

I know there is a guy in one of the facebook oliver groups that has autosteer in a White from the 80's. Shouldn't be a problem I would think.

I run that exact setup on a 2290 Case, 2294 Case and 1660 Case IH combine. Ran it on my M2 Gleaner before replacing it last year.

There is some compensation for freeplay but I wouldn't count on overcoming a really loose front end.

Mounts for the steering motor will be a bit of a issue but I was able to take the bracket that was for the 2294 and make it work in the 2290 and M2. Just takes a bit of ingenuity, the ability to see the brackets before you buy would be extremely helpful also.

I run a 250 on 3 tractors from 1980-1991. All you need is a 12 volt power source, somewhere to mount the monitor, and somewhere in the centre of the tractor to mount the magnetic antenna.

I bought a Outback system for spraying this year, just light bar, no steering, about $700. It was quite a learning curve for an old phart like me. I used it on my 1850. I left the sensitivity set on medium, and in contour mode, I was wandering all over the field. I will try to reduce the sensitivity when I spray again and see if that helps. I sprayed 60 acres of burndown and waited to see how many skips were out there before planting. It was much better than I expected, only about 10 narrow strips to go back and respray. Chris

Depends on how hard it is to turn your wheel. The motor with the little friction wheel I doubt would turn IH power steering, steering wheels. They also have a hub that mounts under the steering wheel, which is a step up, and a hydraulic valve that mounts about anywhere, and is the way to go. The steering wheel doesn't even turn. And no fighting the wheel to kick it out. Just spin the wheel like normal. Can't think of what they call it but it's also made by Trimble.
