TE20 3 point linkage

My linkage goes either all up or all down (nothing in-between) and mostly erratically without input from me. Is this normal for a TE20 or is it a worn out hydraulic valve or something (I am no mechanic!)?

Yes, the TE20 life is engineered to be either up or down, not inbetween. If you try to set
it inbetween, it generally will not stay there and will gradually go up or gradually go
down. There is a little jig that you can buy to allow you to have more control. Go down
to the Ferguson forum and enter your question there for more info.

If you want to temporarily hold some implement at a certain height, pull the PTO out of gear while the control lever for the 3 point is up. This will not hold it for long as the oil will leak past the piston that raises it.
