Hay - Hay - Hay....

Me and the boys did a little work on the MF32 sickle mower and the MF50 diesel is fresh off a new head gasket. Just had enough time tonight to make a few rounds with both. There was a bit of dew on the grass, I mowed right up until dark. MF50 was running at 540 rpms, 1st gear, high range which is about 5.3 mph - plenty fast. The grass was heavy and thick. We had zero clogs - it was simply amazing. We got enough cut to give the tedder and refurb'd NH68 baler a workout here in a few days.

Couldn't have done any of this without my boys and your gracious support.

More pics to follow in the next several days. We also bought a video camera and once we figure out youtube, we'll post some there too.

Thanks again,
Bill

That is some nice lookin hay you have. Glad the tractor and mower are working goid too. 5mph is good for that type mower.

The JD does a fine job with the sickle mower. The plan is to mow with the MF, ted with the JD, rake with the MF and bale with the JD.

The pic is the JD with the MF32 from late last summer's cutting.

so satisfying when it works, isn't it? I love cutting with a sickle mower. Not so much when it clogs, but when you get in a groove and it just keeps cutting, nothing's better.

Wish our fields looked like yours. We need rain here in MA.

Well done Bill! Getting a sickle mower to work right and stay that way is as much art and intuition as science. Good on you!

Hi, that pic with the mf 50 brings back memories.
I have spent countless hours with mf35 and #32
sickle mower. I could take the sections off and rivet
new on in minutes if one broke. I was just a kid.
Ed will oliver bc. Thanks for that!

Thanks for everyone's comments. With luck, the right weather and no breakdowns (did I just jinks everything), we'll be laying down more hay for baling over the long weekend.

Some folks go on a vacation for Memorial Day weekend - we're out in a field... LOL!
