806 low oil in canisters

An 806D followed me home from an auction last weekend. Changing the fluids and filters and the oil canisters only had a small amount of oil in them and they were not leaking from the bottom. Is it not pumping oil? Not familiar with these tractors but can't come up with any good explanations by looking at it... There is no oil pressure gauge on it but it runs good, although a little slow starting. Thanks, -Matt.

Never is much oil in them when you open them up . Now as for the slow starting , Now that is a concern and it is nothing that throwing some serious money at won't fix. To start with make sure that the starter is good along with the batterys , Next is the cranking pressure of the injection pump is where it should be at cranking speed?? Are the valves sunk to deep in the head ?? When was the last time it had and overhaul. When a D361 is wright they will start well below 32 degrees with out any help. They do not like EITHER as this is a good way to knock out the rings Fast.

Thanks. Tractor runs good and sounds like its got a lot left to work with but I just stopped when I saw the canisters. I cant understand how it has both holes at the top and doesn't fill if its pumping oil. Know no history of the tractor just went for cheap at the junk auction ad I'd been looking for a bigger tractor. Looks like it had sat for a long time was smoking and slobbering but sounded very healthy. I opened it up and drove it down the road to fuel it up after I got it home and it ran a lot better after that starts faster also. Made no noises and has a few fresh seeps so hard to understand the low oil in the filters it has to be oiling... going to mess with it some more today and try and get a gauge on it somewhere maybe loosen a filter while running or crank over with the fuel shut off and look for some oil flow...

Cars and trucks have mostly vertical filters that hold the oil. Tractors are mostly horizontal and don't hold much.
