Belarus 250AS Power

Just purchased a King Kutter 5' tiller and will be using it with a Belarus 250as. Do you think this tractor has enough power to run the tiller properly. Thanks in advance.

I don't have any data on the tractor but I think it's 30 hp. Just wanted to know if anybody had experience with the Belarus 250as and its capabilities.

I'm not familiar with that brand tractor data is a website if you search your make and model in a search engine it should be towards the top

Tiger,

My observation is worth just what you had to pay to get it - but here it is.

My brother-in-law has a Belarus 250 tractor and a five foot tiller that he bought at TSC. When the tractor is actually running, he can
successfully use the tiller. He runs in first gear, on purpose, so that the tiller will do a very thorough job of mulching up the dirt.

He is not a good mechanic in any way. He has lots of problems with his tractor and he doesn't have the skills or determination to fix the
problems as they occur. Consequently, he has only used the tiller a couple of times successfully. However, I attribute that to his inability to
maintain the tractor, not the relationship between the tractor size and the tiller size.

If your tractor is performing well, I would guess that it will till well.

5ft tiller is a lot for a Belarus 250,but it will run it,long stroke 2 cyl. diesel, has the torque. You probably will have to make several passes, starting shallow cuts, then each time a little deeper. The tractor does not have a live pto,but it does have a low low reduction gear that will make it work.

Tiger,
My opinion for what its worth...
250AS is 24 PTO HP. I had a Kubota 245DT at 22 PTO HP. I ran a 48" inch tiller. Good combo assuming the soil was moist. Kubota had a nice low gear and it had 3 PTO speeds if you really wanted to spin it 540/720/1000.

You are adding another foot and only 2 hp. You might be on the edge for HP unless you have heavy clay soil. Slow gearing and nice soil may make the difference.

In my heavy clay soil, my 6 foot tiller can bark my tractor now and then at 52 PTO HP in new till sod.
In previously tilled gardens the tractor has plenty of power.

Let us know how it worked.

Thanks Rick. Will be a couple weeks before tiller is delivered but I will let you know if the tractor will tote the load.

As general rule of thumb here is what I have learned about tractors and tillers.

For all soil conditions

14-20HP up to 36 inch
22-24HP up to 48 inch
26-30HP up to 54 inch
32-36HP up to 66 inch

Haven't looked beyond these yet. As others have said it depends on soil condition. A larger one can be used just need to take more shallow cuts.
