Have had minimal time to spend fixing my oliver, and the time I do have I make little to no progress. I have to get the stupid tie rod off, and no matter how big of breaker bar I use, it just doesn't want to go. It's a 1" plug with flat head, and I got it to the end of hte rod but it won't go any further. Of course it's under the tractor and just about everything is in the way.

My father has had me working on his lawn tractor for 2 days, then gives up and buys a new one and tells me to take the old one. So now I have to deal with that thing in my garage.

Just needing to vent a bit!

I dont think the ball ends should be welded to the steering arms. I take it you are on the opposite end from the broken end? Are you trying to get that inner piece out so rod will come off the ball? Do you have a torch? Heat sometimes helps to expand nuts and let them come apart.

On the opposite end, yes. I got the cotter pin out and spun it out, but it's reached the end and it doesn't want to move further. It didn't really want to move before though, either. My money is on a tough plug that once I can get something strong enough in there will come out fine.

I need to get it off so I can weld the housing on the other end, which is cracked. 5 minutes here and 5 minutes there doesn't give much time for progress though.
