disc mower caddy

I am thinking of getting a disc mower caddy and was wondering if anyone out there has used one.I would use it on my smaller 65 hp tractor to keep from putting it on and taking it off my bigger tractor. I am afraid my 3 pt arms aren't stout enuff to carry my mower around and could leave it just hooked to it. Thanks for any advice and comments.

I'm wanting to get one too. I have used one, they are a little harder to get into tight corners but no different than a moco. A lot of the older guys, like me, are getting them because they are easy to hook up. You can also use a smaller tractor.

That's a lot of my problem. Here by myself and the thought og just backing up up and hooking up really appeals to me. I pricecd a frontier at john deere for 4100.00. would like to find a used one here in central mo.

Bought one last fall. $2300 used. They are out there, but you have to look hard. Once I got the mower on and pulled it around awhile, I couldn't believe I hadn't bought one sooner

My caddie saves me a lot of time and work and allows me to move the mower form field to field with a pickup truck when needed. I have a KMC straight axle but I am sure one is as good as the other. I did not realize the price had increased as much as it has, I bought this one 6 years ago for around $2800.00 and that was with the airplane tires filled with foam up-grade.

Bought one a couple years ago, wouldn't have a disc mower without one anymore....
just makes it too easy to hook up.

And I'm pulling the weight, not carrying it.

Do they have a counter weight on the left.
Even on a 125 HP tractor I can turn up
hill to the left. Need to be slow and care
ful.

Some brands of caddies are weighted on the LH side but some aren't. My caddy left tire ground contact gets a little light when lowering/raising cutter bar but I've never seen it to be a problem. Before I bought larger 65 pto hp tractor I cut with my cutter on a caddy on a 49 pto hp tractor.

Don't know how to cut without out one. I use a caddy with my 285 JD (10 ft) cutter on a 5303 (54 hp at PTO) tractor, two wheel drive. Of coarse where I live pretty flat.

I looked on and off for a year before I bought mine....and it was the first one I actually saw.

Found it at a dealer, it was 3 years old but new, had been on the lot that long.

Talking to them, they had really thought they were gonna sell a boatload of them, but it just never happened.

Some implement dealers didn't know what I was talking about, had to describe it to them.

Had one guy tell me "most guys just get another tractor and leave the mower hooked up all the time"

I personnally don't see the need for one, but others like them fine.

No issue hitching and unhitching if you do it in the same place and have any blocking present.

I bale and mow with same tractor, so mower is off and on almost every day during haying.

If I was serious about a mower caddy, I'd just buy a trailer disc mower (looks like disc mower conditioner with out conditioner rolls/flails.)
