kickin up dust

Got some corn in today. We normally don't till in the spring but just no till into stubble, but last fall I chiseled some bean stubble to break up the hardpan and had to give it a light disking to smooth it out. I had the trash wipers set to low in the picture, after the picture I raised them up. Versatile 800 with 1025 Kewanee disk, 1466 on wilmar spreader, and 4640 on 7200 planter.

The fellow we buy TMR from is planting corn now. He has a 8 row planter and a 12 row planter. Asked him how many acres in day. 100-120 per day with the 12 row, a bit less with the 8 row, was the answer. I used to feel I was doing good to do 15 acres a day between chores with a 4 row. Pop used to feel pretty good abut 5-6 acres a day with a 2 row planter. Times have changed, haven't they?
