Here are a few pics from the plow day near the corner of Holtforth Rd. and Fenton Rd southeast of Fenton, MI at an old gentlemans farm. He owns the Massey Harris 44 pictured, and that is his 10 year old great grandson on the little Case. The little guy did a great safe job plowing and handled the tractor admirably. There was a roast pig and homemade desserts afterward. The weather was beautiful and all went well. More to follow in the days to come.

Great photos, thanks for sharing. The young man looks about the way I did at that age whenever I was able to get on a tractor, all smiles!

Great pictures, Looks like it was a nice, fun day. Thanks for the pic of the Mc Cormick shredder, Dad had one like it. Have not seen one or a picture of one for many years. clint

Looks like a great time was had. I always had a plow day on some of our ground. It was a lot of fun, but the old tractors usually left the ground just like it is in the third picture. I would have old timers say "I wouldn't want them to leave my ground like that". Funny thing is that now, with the heavy tillage eqt we have, you can make one pass over the ground and have it just like it needs to be.

In other words, I never worried about how the ground was left, because I could make it right with one pass with a heavy offset disc. I tried to help folks set their plow if they didn't know how, and you would be surprised how many didn't know how, but if they just wouldn't plow, I didn't get too excited.

That looks like great plowin land, and it looks like the soil was in perfect condition. Looks like fun was had by all. Thanks for the pictures. Bob

Like Bob noticed, there were varying degrees of ability in the plowing department. One guy I followed one pass, I just had to go over what he just thought he had done. Some of the guys had no clue their plows 1. were not tracking properly. 2. Were not adjusted deep enough. 3. At least one guy had his set too deep for his tractor, he kept spinning his tires and coming to a dead stop. Maybe his tires were not loaded.
